Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering addresses complex technical problems using computing and science-based approaches. ECE’s graduates have a solid foundation which they can apply towards solving a very wide range of technical problems. Their expertise can be in areas such as circuit design, computing systems, electronic devices and manufacturing, communications and signal processing, power electronics and energy systems and photonics. ECE students graduate with the experience and problem-solving skills necessary to excel in professional practice as engineers or to engage in advanced research in these fields.

Our Mission

The mission of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Program is to provide excellent education in modern electrical and computer engineering practice. Our graduates are highly qualified for rewarding and successful careers in a diverse range of electrical and computer engineering fields.

Undergraduate

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department offers two undergraduate programs: electrical engineering and computer engineering.

Graduate

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department offers three graduate programs: electrical engineering, computer engineering and telecommunications engineering.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UTD provides the resources of a large research university and the community of a small private school. It also provides the flexibility to allow students to learn and succeed on their own terms. This is the "magical combination" that makes UTD so special.
