The master’s degree program provides intensive preparation for professional practice in a broad spectrum of high-technology areas of electrical engineering. It is designed to serve the needs of engineers who wish to continue their education. Courses are offered at times and locations convenient for students who are employed full-time at area companies.
The doctoral program in electrical engineering prepares individuals to perform original, leading-edge research. Because of our strong collaborative programs with Dallas-area high-technology companies, special emphasis is placed on preparation for research and development positions in these high-technology industries.
The Electrical Engineering program at UT Dallas enables students to acquire a solid foundation in the broad areas of electrical engineering and emphasizes advanced study in digital systems, telecommunications and microelectronics. The program specifically provides a solid educational foundation in electrical networks, electronics, electromagnetics, computers, digital systems and communications. Our graduates are uniquely qualified for rewarding and successful careers in a diverse range of electrical engineering fields, including materials, devices, circuits, digital systems, signal/speech/image processing, and communications.
The Fast Track program is designed to accelerate a student’s education so that both BS and MS degrees can be earned in approximately five years of full-time study. The Fast Track program in Electrical Engineering enables exceptionally gifted undergraduate students in their senior year to include approved master’s level courses as part of an undergraduate degree plan. When Fast Track students graduate with a bachelor’s degree, they are automatically admitted to graduate school at UT Dallas without need to take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE).
