Carlos Busso-Recabarren

Before joining UTD, he was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Signal Analysis and Interpretation Laboratory (SAIL), USC.

He is a senior member of the IEEE (Signal Processing Society, Computer Society). He is also a member of the International Speech Communication Association (ICSA), the Association for the Advancement of Affective Computing (AAAC), and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).

He received the Hewlett Packard Best Paper Award at the IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo (ICME 2011). He has received multiple awards in recognition for excellence in reviewing (ICME 2011, ICME 2013, FG 2013). He is the co-author of the winner paper of the Classifier Sub-Challenge event at the Interspeech 2009 emotion challenge. At USC, he received a Provost Doctoral Fellowship from 2003 to 2005 and a Fellowship in Digital Scholarship from 2007 to 2008. Dr. Busso was selected by the School of Engineering of Chile as the best Electrical Engineer who graduated in 2003 from all Chilean universities.
