Overview

Dr. John Fonseka joined the department of Electrical Engineering (EE) at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) as an Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering in August of 1988. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 1994 and then to Full Professor in 2001.

Dr. Fonseka has conducted research in digital communications with emphasis on modulation and coding. He has published about 60 journal articles and holds 15 US patents on related topics. He has taught multiple courses at UT Dallas in the area of communications and related areas. Based on his teaching, he has received the best teacher award in EE three times. In addition, Dr. Fonseka has served on multiple departmental and University wide committees at UTD. Based on his services, he has received the ECS service award.
