Overview

Dr. Saad lectures graduate and undergraduate classes in Electrical Engineering in the area of RF & microwaves, optical communications, high-speed optoelectronics, analog circuit Design, electromagnetic engineering, and advance mathematics.

Dr. Saad joined the Department of Electrical Engineering in 2001.  His main activities at The University of Texas at Dallas consists on teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Electrical Engineering in the areas of RF & microwaves, optical communications, high-speed optoelectronics, analog circuit design, electromagnetic engineering, and advance mathematics.  He was a co-founder of the RF & Microwave graduate concentration area.

He has held managerial and engineering position in Tier-1 and start-up companies. In industry,  he has worked primarily in the areas of high-speed optoelectronics and RF & Microwaves.

He is a member of IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society.

Dr. Saad was awarded the Best Instructor awards in Electrical Engineering by Erik Jonsson School of Engineering & Computer Science at UTD in 2010 and 2013. He has also received several awards in industry and multiple scholarships and fellowships from Argentina, Brazil, and Canada during his graduate and undergraduate studies.

The primary activities of Dr. Saad consist on lecturing graduate and undergraduate classes in multiple disciplines in Electrical Engineering. Dr. Saad has over 20 years of teaching experience. The main objective for most of his classes, in particular graduate ones, is to provide students with advance engineering knowledge in order that they can apply the concepts in the design of state-of-the-art products in industry and to carry out research and development activities. 

Dr. Saad carries research and development activities in the area of high-speed optoelectronics and RF & Microwaves. In industry, he led several design teams in the development of state-of-the-art products that have been deployed world-wide. Those products have contributed to the development of high-speed optical networks.  Dr. Saad has published multiple papers in conferences and journals and he also wrote chapters in books. He was awarded multiple US patents in the areas of optical communications and high-speed optoelectronics.
