ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
The Electrical and Computer Engineering Graduate Program at UT Dallas offers a master of science and doctor of philosophy degrees in electrical engineering to engineers who wish to continue their education. Our master’s degree program provides intensive preparation for professional practice in a broad spectrum of high-technology areas of electrical engineering.
Meanwhile, our doctoral degree program prepares individuals to perform original, leading-edge research in the broad areas of communications and signal processing; mixed-signal IC design; digital systems; power electronics; microelectronics and nanoelectronics; optics; optoelectronics; light-wave devices and systems; RF and microwave systems; VLSI design; power electronics; renewable energy; vehicular technology, control theory, robotics and wireless communications; in preparation for academic career or research and development positions in high-technology industries.
MASTER OF SCIENCE IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
Our MSEE Program provides five concentration areas students can choose from: Circuits, Computing Systems, Devices, Power Electronics and Energy Systems, and Signals and Systems. Students seeking a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering need to select a concentration area and complete 30 semester hours beyond the baccalaureate.
For each concentration area, students must complete three core courses and eight elective courses (of which six must be Electrical Engineering graduate courses, and two can be graduate courses offered by the Erik Jonsson School). It is highly recommended that students consult the EE Concentration Electives Advising list when choosing elective courses in their respective concentration areas.
DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
Our EE PhD Program has nine research areas students can choose from: circuits and systems, communications, control systems, digital systems, photonic devices and systems, power electronics and energy systems, RF and microwave engineering, signal processing, and solid state devices and MF. Students seeking a Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering need to select a research area and complete minimum 75 semester hours beyond the baccalaureate.
