
Doctoral Hooding Ceremony Honors Fall 2025 PhD Graduates in Electrical and Computer Engineering

The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) at The University of Texas at Dallas proudly celebrated its fall 2025 doctoral graduates during the doctoral hooding ceremony, marking a major academic milestone and the culmination of years of rigorous research, innovation and scholarly dedication.
The hooding ceremony is one of the most significant traditions in higher education, which symbolizes the transition of doctoral candidates into independent scholars and leaders in their fields. Surrounded by faculty mentors, family members and peers, each graduate was individually recognized for their perseverance, intellectual contributions and commitment to advancing knowledge in electrical and computer engineering.
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering proudly celebrates its fall 2025 PhD graduates: Sanjay Das, Hiranya Garbha Kumar, Sobhan Badakhshan, Muhammad Farooq, Aric Fowler, Sai Pavan Kalakonda, Salek Khan, Abinay Reddy Naini, Adnan Basir Patwary, Mohammad Salman Parvez, Anoy Saha, Sri Vignesh Sankarraman, Chaitali Gajanan Sathe, Mohammed Belal Uddin and Javad Z. Moghaddam.
Their doctoral journeys were shaped by the mentorship and support of dedicated ECE faculty members, including Dr. Kanad Basu, Dr. Bilal Akin, Dr. Balakrishnan Prabhakaran, Dr. Jie Zhang, Dr. Kenneth K. Hansen, Dr. Ifana Mahbub, Dr. Chadwin Young, Benjamin Carrion Schaefer, Dr. Hlaing Minn and Dr. Aria Nosratinia. Together, this cohort exemplifies the excellence, innovation and collaborative spirit that define the ECE research community at UT Dallas.

The fall 2025 doctoral cohort represents a wide range of research areas, including integrated circuits, communications, cybersecurity, machine learning, human-centred computing and emerging systems technologies. Their work reflects ECE’s strong culture of interdisciplinary research, industry relevance and global impact.
