William Vandenberghe

Associate Professor, ECE

Education

Ph. D. candidate at department of Electrical Engineering, K.U.Leuven, Belgium in collaboration with imec nanoelectronics research centre

Overview

Dr. Vandenberghe was appointed assistant professor at UT Dallas in 2016 and studies electronic transport at the nanoscale using theoretical methods. His expertise ranges from first principles calculations of structural materials properties over calculations of electronic structures, mobilities, velocity-field characteristics to quantum and semiclassical device simulations. Applications of interest are found in the field of nanoelectronics and photovoltaics. For his research he secured funding from federal sources (National Science Foundation and Department of Defense) and from industrial sponsors (Texas Instruments and TSMC). He received several awards for his work including the 2014 KU Leuven research council award and a Young Investigator Award from the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) in 2018. He is also the author of a Springer Graduate Texts in Physics “Advanced Physics of Electron Transport” and has authored or co-authored over 80 publications in international journals and conference proceedings.
